Trip Advisor: Homestyle comfort food done exceptionally well

I'm not really sure what I expected based on the name and the look from the street but Colonial House is outstanding for homestyle comfort food. We've been back several times after our first visit and it never disappoints. Their country fried steak is some of the best I've had anywhere. Portions are generous. If I just had to find something to pick on, their sweet tea is VERY sweet and that's coming from a Southerner who usually likes it that way. The server was very helpful by bringing us some unsweetened tea to dilute it some and that worked out well.
Save room for pie ... or better yet take some home or just get a whole pie to take home.

We also like that they have a cooler for "take and bake" meals and have swung by to pick up those a couple times as well.

We're adding to our 1/4 # burger selection with the 'Jalapeno Cream Cheese Burger': get the seared effect of a Smash Burger - thin and juicy, topped with Jalapeno Cream Cheese (Jalapenos, green chilies, cheddar cheese, and green onion). Add some raspberry coulee for a tart and sweet contrast, then sprinkle with bacon bits. Comes with a choice of one side.
