I know many people are saying, “Keep Joe because he cares about the kids,” and I wanted to share one very specific reason why our family knows that to be true.
I am a Woodland Hills graduate, I own two businesses in the district, I serve on the board of the Rankin Christian Center, and I am Board Chair of the Enterprise Zone. I am deeply committed to the success of this community and especially to the children who are the future of our communities.
When Dr. Joe Maluchnik was principal at Greensburg Salem, my niece Lizzie Ammons, who has Kabuki Syndrome and suffers from seizures, experienced a seizure at school. Joe heard the call come in and immediately went into action. He didn’t simply leave it to someone else—he went directly to her side to make sure she was okay.
That is the kind of person Joe is. He sees the individual child, not just the student. He has always gone out of his way to make everyone feel important, included, and capable.
He also encouraged my niece to believe that college was possible for her. She went on to attend and graduate from Slippery Rock University Rock Life program, and Joe was one of the people who helped inspire that confidence in her.
Our family knows and trusts Joe because we have personally witnessed how deeply he cares about children. His compassion isn’t something we’ve just heard about—we’ve experienced it firsthand.
That is why I believe Joe is the kind of leader Woodland Hills needs—someone who understands that strong schools are about more than numbers and budgets. They are about seeing the potential in every child and helping them believe in their future.
