🚨 URGENT: Asheville Humane Society needs our help! 🚨

The catastrophic damage from Hurricane Helene has overwhelmed the Asheville Humane Society, and countless animals are in desperate need of safety. We’re partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation to rescue as many pets as possible, but we can’t do it without your help!

We need emergency fosters to help us take in these animals! If you’ve never fostered before, that’s okay! Fostering is completely free—Forsyth Humane Society will provide you with all of the supplies you might need to help care for one of these animals. Every foster home we can secure is another life we can save! 🐾❤️

If you can step up to help us out, please email [email protected] with the subject line “Hurricane Helene Foster”, or check forsythhumane.org/foster for incoming animals. THANK YOU for your willingness to help and your dedication to animals in need. Please share this post to help us reach as many fosters as possible!

In critical times like these, when we are drowning in incoming animals and running low on space, our non-profit animal rescue partners are typically first to reach out and ask how they can help.

Lately, over the last two years, they've also been experiencing the same slowdown in adoptions and decrease in available foster homes. They desperately want to support us and help us to avoid this unnecessary euthanasia, but they can't if they aren't receiving their own help and support.

To help our rescue partners, we're hosting a "Rescue Foster Call Open House" (think of it like a "Foster Fair" instead of a "Job Fair").

This Monday, August 12th at 6:30pm, the public is invited to meet, speak with, and learn more about almost a dozen of our fabulous animal rescue partners. With so many options, we know you'll find a rescue partner you'd feel proud to open your home and foster for. Your help will allow them free up critically needed space at WCAC and literally save lives.

Confirmed Rescues in Attendance (either in person or virtually):
All Animals Sanctuary & Rescue
Carolina Boxer Rescue
Cause For Paws of North Carolina
Doxie By Proxy Rescue, Inc.
Marden's Ark Dog Tales
Neshama Animal Rescue
Perfectly Imperfect Pups
Rescue Ur Forever Friend (RUFF)
Southeast German Shepherd Rescue
US Dog Coalition & Rescue

Location:
Wake County Animal Center
820 Beacon Lake Drive
Raleigh, NC 27610

The WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center is facing a heartbreaking situation – if space on the adoption floor isn’t freed up by adoptions, reclaims by owners, fosters or transfers to rescue partners, then the center will be forced to create needed space by euthanasia.

Currently, there are 579 animals in the care of the Animal Center, 342 at the center and the remaining in foster care. There are 12 cats, 88 dogs, 14 kittens, two puppies, two birds and two rabbits available for adoption. In foster, there are eight cats, 40 dogs, 28 kittens and one puppy available for adoption.
