About Version City Tour:
Version City Tour is a rotating multi-artist lineup of ska veterans hosted by King Django (Stubborn All-stars, Skinnerbox, & The Boilers). He is considered one of the "oldest of the old school" and a seminal force who helped define the New York traditional ska sound of the 1990s. King Django (Jeffrey Baker) is a veteran of the New York ska and reggae scene, active since the late 1980s. He is the frontman for Skinnerbox and the Stubborn All-Stars, and founded the influential Stubborn Records label and Version City studio. Known for his "trad-ska" sound, Django often blends reggae and rocksteady with klezmer, punk, and hip-hop. He has collaborated with major acts like Rancid and The Toasters, helping define the East Coast's third-wave ska movement. In 1997, he established Version City Studio, which rapidly became the "hub" and focal point for the New York ska and reggae scene. He also hosted the influential Version City Parties at venues like The Knitting Factory to showcase local and international talent. Django is widely respected as an influential mentor to younger musicians. Through his label, Stubborn Records and his studio, he acted as a "song doctor" and producer for numerous bands, helping them perfect an authentic "old-school" approach.
