I know everyone has been wondering what’s going on with the restaurant and why we aren’t open right now especially during the holidays .

The truth is we are currently working through a temporary pause due to a state compliance issue that escalated quickly and included a significant penalty, making reopening much harder than expected. On November 17th 2025 the State of New Jersey entered the premises and forced us to shut down procedures, throw out all of our inventory, and lay off all of our staff . Threatening to auction off the business and all of our equipment if the penalty they assessed is not satisfied. We have requested installment agreements with a down payment which have been rejected, leaving us no choice but to turn to the community for help .

I’ve always tried to handle challenges on my own and push through quietly. But I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask for support when the situation is bigger than one person and that community is a big part of why this business exists in the first place.

For those who’d like to support, donations, sharing this post, or placing catering orders while we’re closed all make a real difference. Catering proceeds will go directly toward reopening efforts.

Thank you to everyone who has supported CooksKitchn over the years. A lot of you have been rocking with us for a very long time . We’re working through this, and I’m committed to coming back stronger.
