Oh the wonderful, carefree, worry free life of yesteryears. Sometimes I think back being a kid and the things that stressed me out, realizing how much it didn’t matter and missing out on the beauty of just being a kid. Reminds me a lot of elementary gym class…

Which leads me to my Educator of the week… The simple, fun gym class of elementary school. You know jump rope for heart, the multi colored Parachute, the little two handle square scooters….

My K-3rd grade Gym time was some of the best times and it was all carried out by the fantastic Mrs. Garner! This lovely lady brought a smile every single day! This week burger goes out to you and all the intangible skills Gym class gave little kids.

Thankful Thursday is here!!

We have a GREAT Thankful Thursday, one that might hit home even a bit more than any thus far. Post might end up being a bit long winded, but that’s how I am unfortunately….

First and foremost, Thank you to Mr. Ryan Brown… Many of you have known about a certain situation 8te Open was involved in with my son, but most wouldn’t know Mr. Brown took on my case Pro Bono. He is modest and would never admit this, but his skill is certainly high level, in high demand, and probably comes at a deserved high compensation and he did this one for free. I can’t give enough thanks for his work and handling of everything.

Second big thank you to the Illinois Department of Labor. We worked diligently with a very nice lady and was able to resolve any and all issues. It was a great learning experience for me as well. Most of the time only the bad things about government workers get shared, but I think the good needs to be shared as well. I extend a sincere 8te Open Thank You for helping in this situation.

At the end of the day it is on the lawmakers to fix broken laws. The blame cannot be on the hard working individuals enforcing them and doing their job.

Third and finally, a big thank you to all our patrons. The number of people who have reached out, stopped in, supported our business, or simply sent a positive word in our direction, THANK YOU.

Wonderful Wednesday is here!!

Today is especially Wonderful because one of the crew has a birthday today!

We have been blessed here at 8te Open to have a solid core team of individuals who share the same vision. This person has been here since the beginning and 8te Open wouldn’t be what it is without her.

We are HOLLERIN’ HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Millie Vanillie Inman. She turns 21 today! If you see her make sure to wish her a fabulous birthday! She is one of the 8te Open OG’s, standard bearer, all around good person, and expecting Mother!

Celebration Saturday is here!!!

The weather is BEAUTIFUL and the food is delicious!

This week has been a great week! We have had a few caterings for familiar faces, retirement parties for some GREAT people and we look forward to finishing the week off the only way we know how…

Our Wing EXTRAvaganza is popping all day. 12 Crispy, Delicious Wings for $10. We have some solid sauce choices, but the Will Ertel’s Carolina Gold is always tasty!

Fridays are special… This Friday in particular every year is extra special because it is the last day of school, half day of school, and the number of kids and Educators we see today always sets my summer start off right!!

Our Educator appreciation month (20% off) continues and today I thought I had it all figured out. I had my educator all picked out. Then earlier in the week Monroe told me this fantastic story about gym class and then I knew this Friday needed something a little extra.

It was 2nd Hour gym class and the gym teacher announced some game all the kids were going to play; After hearing a bunch of moans and groans, it was decided that they would just do sprints instead. Felt like I was back in the military for a minute and Monroe loved it.

This educator would be one of those sought out players in sports that Coaches call 2 way players. She not only teaches, but Coaches SEVERAL sports as well. The dedication on both the field and classroom is something special.

The feature educator of the week is Ms. Clopper!

It was a great Thursday night!

My all star crew held it down and we were able to catch the QJHS award ceremony!

Monroe got an award for maintaining a 3.75 GPA or higher! A lot of great kids getting awards this evening!

Some nights you don’t want to cook, especially when you do it for a living, so we splurged (broke our macro counting diet) and enjoyed some delicious HOT LIPS from the Abbey… Man those are good; very solid cheat meal if you ask me…

Today is thankful Thursday!!

A YUGE Thank you to a FANTASTIC LADY… I have so many memories at her house when I was younger, “streaking” New Year’s Eve in the neighborhood, all you can eat watermelon in the summer, the best monkey bread to this day, bottle rocket wars on the 4th of July, 3 wheeler track around the house…
No matter what she was always there, caring and loving of all her sons friends…

As life goes, you lose touch with people, and I didn’t get a chance to see her again until recently. It was unfortunately due to the passing of her husband, but she didn’t miss a beat said hi Tippy…

She came in just recently with her daughter Ashley and I got this card in the mail..

This Thursday is for you Mrs. Hollensteiner… Thank you for making our day with this card and Thank you for the childhood memories!!
