I can’t say enough good things about Chilly Rental and owner Joe Becker. We found ourselves in a bind and needed cold storage quickly, and Joe absolutely came through for us.

He was informative, responsive, and prompt from the first call. He understood the situation, got us taken care of quickly, and most importantly, didn’t take advantage of the fact that we were in a jam. No ridiculous emergency pricing or gouging—just fair pricing and great service.

It’s refreshing to deal with a business owner who understands that taking care of people is how you build long-term customers. Joe earned our business and our recommendation.

I’m looking for some help from longtime Punta Gorda families.

As we finish The Snug upstairs at The Salty Tarpon, I want the walls going up the stairs and throughout the club to show some of the history of Punta Gorda. I’m planning to have old photographs reproduced on canvas, especially pictures of local veterans, the old Ice House, and downtown Punta Gorda from years ago.

If you have old family photos, pictures of downtown businesses, the waterfront, the Ice House, local veterans, or just everyday life in old Punta Gorda, I’d love to see them.

You don’t have to give up the original. A good scan or copy is all I need. And if you know the story behind the picture, who is in it, where it was taken, or roughly what year, even better.

I want someone walking up those stairs to be able to look around and see the Punta Gorda that came before us, while giving our local veterans a place of honor.

Send me a private message if you have anything you’d be willing to share. And please pass this along to anyone who has been around Punta Gorda for a long time. I know there have to be some incredible pictures sitting in old family albums around town.

We’ve recently heard a completely false rumor circulating that The Snug is going to be a strip club. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Snug is being created as a private members’ lounge—a quiet, upscale space for craft cocktails, great conversation, bourbon, wine, and special events. That’s it.

If anyone has questions, don’t rely on gossip. Come see it for yourself. I will personally take you upstairs and show you exactly what we’re building. We have absolutely nothing to hide.

It’s disappointing that some people choose to spread false stories about a local small business instead of supporting it. We’d much rather spend our time creating something Punta Gorda can be proud of than responding to rumors.

* 🏴‍☠️ Captain Kenny insisted on a 4 PM start… apparently his parole officer has an 9 PM curfew.

* ⚓ We wanted to start later, but Captain Kenny reminded us fossils aren’t nocturnal.

* ☠️ The party starts at 4 PM because Captain Kenny says “midnight” is now 8:30.

* 🏴‍☠️ We tried to make it 6 PM, but Captain Kenny already had pajamas scheduled.

* ⚓ Captain Kenny wanted a 4 PM start so he could still complain about the younger generation before bedtime.

* 🍻 King Pirate Kenny says the early start gives everyone enough time to party… and enough time to recover on Sunday.

* 🏴‍☠️ We asked Captain Kenny what time pirates party. He said, “Right after my afternoon nap.”

* ⚓ Captain Kenny requested a 4 PM start because happy hour is cheaper than a pirate chiropractor.
