Our Story
Liberato “Chief” LaTronica, came to Pueblo from Campagna, Italy. He married Giovanna “Jennie” (born in Salerno Italy and had 9 children, 3 boys and 6 girls. While playing cards with some friends, Chief won a building, which was a grocery store at the time. He told his three sons “to do something with it”. So they did. Little did they know it would become a Pueblo tradition. Pete became “chef” with all the sisters working along side him. The recipes from the past are still used today. Pete’s nephew, Gene Mattarocci, joined him to help out in the bar in the 50’s. Almost every extended family member worked for at least a little while throughout its history and it is still run by family. Frank Mattarocci, Gene’s son, is the current owner…and so the tradition continues.
The story…to be continued…
