To think I've spent more than half of my life showing up to protest and march as my ancestors did generations before and yet still. Still there is so much to be done. At a time when the world seems to be ablaze remember that silence is complicity, and can be equally as damaging. Only truth can shame a lie, but truth doesn't matter if it isn't spoken as loud and with as much force as the lie. We are in a time when ALL of our voices are needed to combat the lie and to attempt to finally begin the road to building a country that sees all people as created equal. Remember the US was never started as a place that desired freedom for all! It's core beliefs are built on the murder of the indigenous, the enslaving of Africans, and the overall mistreatment of any and all people of color. Like a building if the foundation is rotten no structure built upon it will last. We are finally seeing what happens when rot is the foundation as is here in America. May we all become skilled in finding it, taking it out, and rebuilding for a better and stronger society. My dream as always been to be alive long enough to see the beginning of a shift and for this I am happy.
