This week is something we’ve been long awaiting - our hood vent installation 🎉

We always knew it would happen, but there was a while there we didn’t know how or when. We are so very grateful that God has control of the details and perfectly aligned everything to get us to this week.

While this does mean we were not able to do a pop up for restaurant weekend put on by Princeton Tourism, it also means that we’re one step closer to getting to open our doors for good.

The million dollar question: “Do you know when you’re opening yet?”

The answer is still no, but with the progress we’ll be making in the coming weeks I think we’re getting closer to being able to better answer that question.

Hang with us folks, we’ll get there!! In the meantime, go enjoy the delicious restaurants our lovely town has to offer!

Hi everyone! We know we’ve been a little quiet, and while we don’t love posting constant “no opening date yet” updates, we also don’t want silence to leave people wondering—so here’s where we’re at.

The short answer: we still don’t have an opening date, but real progress is happening.

Right now, we’re working through several big (and necessary) kitchen projects that are both time-consuming and expensive:

* Hood vent: We’ve officially given the go-ahead and are on the contractor’s schedule with a 4–6 week timeline. After months of waiting on quotes and approvals, this is a major win.

* AC & mop sink: The health department requires a mop sink on the main floor. The only place we can put one is in our kitchen closet, where our current AC handler is located. We can’t just move our existing unit—we have to replace the entire system with one that can be installed in the ceiling. While this was a tough pill to swallow, it gives us the opportunity to upgrade to a more powerful system that will do a better job keeping the dining room cool and comfortable, especially during the summer months. We’re currently waiting on one final quote before moving forward.

* Electrical upgrades: To support our kitchen equipment, we need to update some electrical in the kitchen.

* Finishing the kitchen: Installing remaining equipment, hooking everything up, and figuring out walls, ceilings, lighting, and all the other little details that go into building a restaurant kitchen.

* Dining room furnishings: We still need to select and purchase tables, chairs, and the rest of our dishes.

What we’ve been up to recently: we’ve been working on building out a handicap-accessible entrance for our customers (in the back). This was something we went back and forth on since it cuts into our already small kitchen space, but we ultimately felt it was important to do it now and do it right.

There’s still a lot happening behind the scenes, and Corbin has been putting in the work every day. The next few months will definitely be a grind, but we’re moving forward.

Our kitchen space is very much in construction mode, but it is our goal to have things in a suitable enough place to (fingers crossed 🤞🏼) do a pop-up during the Princeton Tourism restaurant weekend in March. We’ll see how progress goes and will announce if we’re able to participate as we get closer.

Most importantly: we WILL open. We’re confident in that. It’s not a question of if, just when.

Thank you all for your patience, support, and for following along. We’ll do better about sharing progress as these big projects move forward!

It’s wild to look back on this year and think about where we started and how much slow, steady growth has happened. Sometimes it feels like no progress is being made, but the little things really do stack up.

The floors were refinished in January and are so beautiful (shoutout to ). One wall got a fresh coat of paint that perfectly matches the flower in the 1980s wallpaper. We added a second bathroom and made the original just a bit bigger—both “new” but still old, with details like transom windows, salvaged sinks, built-in shelving, and an exposed brick wall.

We bought old church pews from Galva and used the extra wood to build our Main Street window seating. Every piece of the counter is repurposed wood, and I can’t wait for the day people sit there with a cup of coffee watching downtown go by.

We finalized our logo (thanks ), picked colors, added signage, and are slowly buying things we need—coffee makers, ice machines, dishwashers, dishes, decor, and more.

Best of all, we got to fill this space with people and food: graduation parties, homecoming dinner, pop-ups, and early morning coffee with friends. Those moments reminded us why we’re doing this.

Timelines and goal dates have come and gone, and things are moving slower than we ever anticipated. But good things take time, and we’re choosing to trust that everything is unfolding exactly as it should. We know that whenever we open, it will be the right time it’s meant to be. There’s still more work to do, but little by little, day by day, we’re inching ever closer to opening our little breakfast and lunch spot and feeding our community. See you in 2026!

Thanks for being here — we’re so glad you found us!

We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share a little more about the family behind Lenny & Joon’s.

I’m Vanessa — the one behind most of the posts you’ll see here (Corbin isn’t much of a social media guy 🤪). My husband Corbin and I have been married nearly 15 years. We actually fell in love working at Monical’s Pizza, and we’ve been working together ever since — literally. After Monical’s (and a brief time at a nursery), Corbin started his career at Taylor’s Way in Princeton, and I joined him not long after. For over 11 years, we were a team at work and at home — even for side gigs like fairs and catering events with the Kramer family.

Corbin’s the creative mind in the kitchen, and I’m all about process and structure (give me a step by step recipe please 🙋🏻‍♀️). We balance each other well, and it’s that teamwork that gave us the confidence to chase this dream of opening our own restaurant.

We’re also proud parents to two amazing girls: Lenora (14) and Juniper (11) — aka Lenny & Joon! Their nicknames inspired the name of our restaurant. Lenora never really landed on a nickname with us (she’s just always been Lenora), but one side of the family calls her Lenny, the other calls her Nora. Juniper got her name from the movie Benny & Joon, and she’s had all kinds of nicknames, including June. When it came time to name the restaurant, it just felt right to use something that already means so much to us and play off a movie we love!

Our girls are active in school, sports, and the community — and we love being their biggest cheerleaders. Life moves fast, and we’re especially aware of that with our oldest starting high school. One of the reasons we chose to focus on breakfast and lunch (aside from it being our favorite foods) is because it fits the rhythm of our life — allowing us to serve our community and still be present for our family.

Thanks again for following along — it truly means the world to us. We’d love to hear about you too! Drop a comment and introduce yourself 👋

Hello everyone!

We’re still riding the high from last weekend’s pop-up and can’t thank you enough for the love and support. You made our very first pop-up such a fun, exciting, and unforgettable experience!

🚨 Quick reminder: We’re not officially open yet, so we don’t have regular hours at this time. The pop-up was a one-time event, and while we’re eager to open our doors permanently, we still have some kitchen renovations to finish before we can set a date.

As we start thinking about our next pop-up, we’d love to hear from you!
If you joined us last weekend:
👉 What did you love?
👉 What could we do better?
👉 Got photos? We’d love to see them!

Drop your thoughts in the comments or send us a DM — your feedback means the world to us and will help shape future events.

Be sure to follow along for updates and announcements about what’s next!

Thanks again for being part of this journey. We can’t wait to serve you again soon!
