6-30-2013. A day Prescott will never forget.
Today, we pause to remember the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting others during the Yarnell Hill Fire. Though 13 years have passed, their courage, selflessness, and dedication continue to live on in the hearts of our community.
Today, we honor:
• Andrew Ashcraft
• Robert Caldwell
• Travis Carter
• Dustin DeFord
• Christopher MacKenzie
• Eric Marsh (Superintendent)
• Grant McKee
• Sean Misner
• Scott Norris
• Wade Parker
• John Percin Jr.
• Anthony Rose
• Jesse Steed
• Joe Thurston
• Travis Turbyfill
• William Warneke
• Clayton Whitted
• Kevin Woyjeck
• Garret Zuppiger
We also recognize Brendan McDonough, the sole survivor of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, whose life was forever changed by that tragic day.
Their legacy extends far beyond that mountainside. They remind us what true courage looks like and what it means to serve something greater than yourself.
From all of us at Gurley Street Sports Pub we offer our deepest gratitude—not only to these 19 heroes, but to every wildland firefighter, firefighter, first responder, and emergency personnel member who continues to put themselves in harm's way every single day to protect our communities. Your bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment never go unnoticed.
Today, we remember the fallen. We honor the living. And we promise that the Granite Mountain 19 will never be forgotten.
Forever 19. Forever Prescott. Forever in our hearts.
