Alright, this is a hard decision for us. Sadly we are going to close for the Juneteenth event today. Although we realize that we were open last year for Juneteenth... it was a much smaller presence in our block. Years prior it was not in our block at all. Today the event appears to be very much larger including already more vendors than last year and additionally a large band shell and seating . We unfortunately are not equipped to handle the amount of people this appears it will draw. We are already short staffed this weekend due to vacations and have no additional staff to pull in. So rather than do a poor job we have reluctantly decided to close. Please accept our sincerest apologies. We hope that for future events we will be able to prepare appropriately and handle an event of this size.

Just a heads up, High Street will be closed in our block for Juneteenth celebration tomorrow (Saturday) from 9am to 8pm. There's conflicting information about which other blocks are closed but it's definitely at least from Hanover Street to Charlotte Street. The High Street celebration appears to be from 11 to 6. Additional events will also take place in Memorial Park as well. Last year it was jumping.

**edit: For those who have asked, we intend to be open normal hours. This celebration has never been on Saturday before so we don't know what will transpire. If anything changes we will make an updated post.**

**Re-edit: Our apologies, we WERE open for it last year, but forgot because it was much smaller. This event looks very large today, with a bandshell right outside of our store. We will make a decision shortly as to whether we will be open today. We are definitely not staffed for the size of an event this is appearing to be today.**

Steve Guttenberg now too? Retro Con is going to be amazing this year!

Fire up "I'm Gonna Be Somebody", "Who's Johnny", and the Police Academy march! We’ve just secured a guest who didn't just rule your local video rental store, he completely dominated the theater box office for an entire decade! The incredible Steve Guttenberg is reporting for duty SATURDAY ONLY at Retro Con 2026 (Official) this September in Oaks, PA!

When it comes to 1980s comedy, few actors left a bigger fingerprint on the decade than Steve Guttenberg! For an entire generation of movie fans, he'll forever be remembered as Carey Mahoney, the wisecracking troublemaker at the center of the Police Academy series. For four movies, Mahoney perfected the art of bending the rules, tormenting his superiors, and somehow turning every crisis into a win. In the process, he became one of the most iconic comedy heroes of the decade!

And of course Mahoney was only one stop on an incredible career! Guttenberg also starred as inventor Newton Crosby in the 1986 classic Short Circuit, where he helped unleash the input-loving robot Johnny 5 on the world. He also had a dramatic turn in the landmark tv event The Day After, starred in the beloved sci-fi film Cocoon, helped make 'Three Men and a Baby' one of the biggest box-office hits of the 1980s, was part of the acclaimed ensemble cast of Diner (1982), headlined the supernatural comedy High Spirits, and appeared in countless other film and television projects over the past 40+ years!

So whether you grew up quoting Johnny 5, binging Police Academy marathons, or just lived on a steady diet of peak ‘80s movie magic, this is your chance to meet one of the defining faces of the decade, live and in person at Retro Con 2026!!

The temperature outside isn't the only heat you'll get if you don't pay for your parking! Come on, it's free for the first hour just use the app. Or put a quarter in the kiosk at either end of the block. We try to warn you when we see the parking guy but sometimes we miss him because we're busy. Really it's not our responsibility. But if you pay first you've got nothing to worry about! And it's not our fault you have to pay for parking, so don't bring it down on us! We have to pay too just like you do.
