Every act of kindness sends a ripple. Together, those ripples become waves of hope, strength, love, and encouragement throughout our community.

As a firefighter and first responder, I've seen firsthand that many people are carrying burdens no one else can see. Some are grieving. Some are exhausted. Some are fighting battles they never talk about. Life has a way of leaving us all in need of hope from time to time.

That's why Ripples to Waves means so much to our family.

On August 7th, we invite you to be intentional. Hold a door open. Pay for someone's meal. Pray with someone. Write an encouraging note. Visit a neighbor. Buy a coffee. Help a stranger. Call a friend. However God leads you, be the ripple.

And if you're the one who needs encouragement right now, my prayer is that someone finds you. I pray you receive the blessing you need, exactly when you need it most. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness can remind us that we're not alone.

One of the greatest gifts you can give our family is to share your story. If you bless someone—or if someone blesses you—please post it on the Ripples to Waves page or on your personal page and tag us. Reading those stories means more than words can express. August 7th is a difficult day for us as we remember and honor our sweet Cason, but seeing his legacy continue through acts of kindness helps bring light into one of our darkest days.

Often I see people say, "Not fast food," when they're looking for a job.

I think people underestimate the value of working in the food industry.

For a long time, many of us grew up hearing, "If you don't do well in school, you'll end up flipping burgers." It was meant to discourage bad choices, but it also created an unfair stigma around the people who work in fast food.

The reality is - there is and always will be honor in honest work.

You're given the opportunity to make an impression on someone's next 30 minutes in less than 60 seconds.

Whether it's a parent grabbing dinner after a long day, a student between classes, or someone celebrating a special occasion, your attitude can genuinely change their experience.

Working in food service teaches skills that transfer into every industry: communication, teamwork, time management, handling pressure, problem-solving, customer service, and accountability.

You learn to move with urgency while maintaining quality.

You learn that every role matters.

Some people build lifelong careers in the restaurant industry. Others use it as a stepping stone into healthcare, education, business, law enforcement, management, or entrepreneurship.

Neither path is more honorable than the other.

Don't overlook a job because of its title. Every opportunity has something to teach you if you're willing to learn.

And the next time someone hands you a burger, remember they're not "just flipping burgers."

They're earning a living, developing skills, and serving their community.

Every honest job deserves respect.
