***🧡 Every Child Matters 🧡***
September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, a day to honor the Indigenous children who were taken from their homes and forced to attend residential and boarding schools.
These children endured abuse, the suppression of their languages and cultures, and separation from their families. Many never returned home. It wasn’t long ago this happened, we still have family members alive today that went through this just generations ago.
Today, we remember the children who never came home, honor the Survivors, and recognize the lasting impact these institutions have had on Indigenous families and communities.
If you see orange being worn out in the community today, remember every child matters 🧡
