We will be open at 11:30 tomorrow (Sat, 10/12) featuring “Fil’s Irish Gumbo,” and Susie’s cornbread. It will be a solid brunch for any bunch watching a noon kickoff on a nice outdoor patio.

We would like to take a moment to express gratitude for our staff and regular customers that have supported us throughout this “survival mode” moment of business. The staff are simply working for the sake of the business, and the customers just keep rolling in despite us being out of certain products on various days.
We didn’t anticipate that the bar would remain this busy during this timeframe. Bare with us and we will continue to grow to keep this place vibrant for the next owner.

We won’t be hosting trivia this evening but it will be back on track Wednesday 10/2. The patio is still prime with the good weather and cold drinks.

We believed that whenever we purchased this bar, that these two kids would be able to grow up with the place and a strong sense of understanding for this side of town.

We (as a family) have reached the crossroads where fate will decide if/how we will be a part of this future. We have elected to sell this business and property.

Reece would like to use half of his half (25% of sale price) to buy back in for 20% ownership. He has a short list of renovations and changes that can take this restaurant to the next level.

We hope you all grant us some grace during these coming months of “survival mode.” Help us find a cool buyer, and let’s give this one another shot.

It’s safe to say that these two kids in the picture will get to see continuous improvements to the East End, and growth in the business that they helped start.

This is the oldest continuously operated bar grill that has carried the same name throughout its’ existence in Portsmouth. That ownership pedigree to keep this dream alive will find the next person, and it will continue on.

2 years ago today we started “Day 1” of ownership. The first fundamental decision that would help shape the entire course of this business was arguably one of the most criticized. We wanted to tear down this fence that blocked out the neighborhood. Our belief was that it was a nice neighborhood bar that wanted to feel welcoming to all, and that a view of what you can see from any space consuming a beer, was better than a restriction of what you just walked by to get there.

We took heavy criticism for this decision, along with many others, but we literally doubled the financials of the operation, and are on pace to set another round of goals for the coming years.

We hope that this little snippet of a story helps provide each and everyone of you with some inspiration to pursue your dreams. If this establishment can survive over 100 years on the toughest side of town, while many other establishments come and go from this industry, then maybe your ambitions can also flourish within these types of spaces.

We believe in the East End, and we believe it will continue to grow. Thank you all for making this happen for 2 years, and we look forward to many more memories ahead.
