We use non-GMO vermicelli noodles, tofu, and peanut sauce, and are committed to cooking using fresh and natural ingredients. We make our own in house pad thai sauce, teriyaki sauce, salad dressings, hoisin sauce, siracha sauce, and meatballs. Our goal is to minimize or completely eliminate the use of any preservatives, provide many allergen free food, and minimize as much contaminants as possible. In example, we start out on 1st year as MSG free friendly, 2nd year as MSG Free with GF options, 3rd year as 100% MSG & Gluten Free with 25% Soy Free options. In our fourth year, we will try to make our flavoring bases so that 50% of our menu can be soy free and bring our zero preservative goal to fruition. Butterfly Belly is founded in July 2013 by a local Mt. Tabor neighborhood family with a goal to contribute 25% of its future profit to a start-up Youth Leadership non-profit called One of Kindness. You can find us on Facebook.com/oneofkindness. Owned by a brother and sister tandem who live just a few city blocks from the restaurant. It is truly a labor of love and neighborhood establishment. It all started because of a lifetime goal from one of the owners, whose dream is to create non-profit which focuses on youth leadership and higher education development. Minh Tran left a very well paid 14 year engineering career at one of the world top semiconductor/computer company to start up a non-profit called One of Kindness and this restaurant establishment. The goal is to have a well managed and profitable restaurant which in turn would mean that Minh Tran will be able to free up 4-5 days a week of his tie to focus on the non-profit full time. If the future non-profit ever materialize or not, only time will tell.
