During my freshman year of college, I enrolled in a modern music appreciation class to fulfill a gen ed requirement. The class mainly consisted of checking out CDs from the library, listening through the required list and at the end of the quarter, we would have to blindly identify a random selection of songs. Sounds like a dream class, right?? You mean my homework is listening to James Brown and the Beatles and Marvin Gaye and I get college credit for this??? Alas, my the time I got to college, I was not in the mood to study with any semblance of diligence so I totally blew the class off. Until one day, I arrived, sat down, looked to my left and right... and saw everyone with headphones on, intently looking over papers until the professor arrived. And when she did, my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. TODAY WAS THE FINAL AND I HAD NOT LISTENED TO A SINGLE ALBUM ON THE LIST. I quietly walked up to the professor, asked her for a moment outside the classroom... where, with my megaton heart in hand, I sheepishly and honestly explained my situation. Somehow, she emphasized with me. She said I had one hour to go to the library and listen to the albums while everyone else took the test. I immediately bolted to the library, checked out every album on the list and literally listened to maybe thirty seconds max of each one. I rushed back to the classroom, took the final... and amazingly, got a B- .
The takeaway from this story is maybe your forgot to pack your lunch today. You are totally unprepared to get through the workday with what little energy you have left. DU'S GRILL WILL BE YOUR SYMPATHETIC MODERN MUSIC PROFESSOR AND PROVIDE YOU WITH THE SUSTENANCE YOU NEED. And personally, I'd rate our food higher than a B- πππ
