Gluten Free Gem is an independent, family run bakery located in Portland’s Lloyd District. Owner Anne Miller started baking gluten free at CCP Gluten Free Bakeshop in 2006 when her daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. By April of 2011, the bakery had outgrown its SW Corbett location and was moved to N. With this move came a name change, to celebrate the original Gems: Anne’s daughters Greta

and Emma Miller. In 2017 the bakery moved again, to NE Broadway St. and NE 2nd Ave, to make room for a larger production kitchen and a retail shop. The bakery is a dedicated gluten free facility, to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination. As part of our commitment to being 100% gluten free we do extensive ingredient research to ensure that everything we use, as well as our facility, is clean of gluten. In addition to our gluten awareness, we train all our employees about the risk of cross-contamination from other allergens. We are continually educating ourselves on new research and information regarding Celiac Disease, gluten-intolerance, and gluten-free baking. We take the potential health risks of gluten contamination as seriously as the need for our pastries to taste delicious.

Springtime in Portland 🪻🌷 We have our new spring menu items available and wow are they good! This is the lemon marionberry swiss roll, it’s light and delicious and the perfect addition to a springtime picnic. Come by the bakery to try something new!

We made a mistake and missed the hot heat, but we do have ice cream sandwiches! We promise they are good any time, not just in a sun filled heat wave.

These tasty sandos are made with our house made vegan vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two soft and chewy vegan lemon twinkle cookies. They are available now, in our grab and go freezer. We only made one batch, so we recommend coming by before they sell out!

Our suggested cake menu for custom cakes is really popping off for the season! This classic Vanilla Marionberry Cake is a summer treat that’s sure to please any Northwest berry lovers. Soft vanilla cake is filled with bright marionberry jam and decorated with silky vanilla buttercream.

If this flavor isn’t your jam, we also have Lemon Curd Cake, Vegan Triple Chocolate Cake, and Vegan Lemon Blueberry Cake available for ordering. Basically, something for everyone!

Our Summer Menu is in full swing! We love the opportunity to highlight the best summer berries and stone fruits on our summer menus.

This year we’re offering this delicious Strawberry Lemon Cream Cake Slab, made with fresh strawberry jam and creamy lemon curd mousse, topped with candied lemon zest. These cake slabs can be found at many of our wholesale partners and in our shop everyday.

This flavor combination also makes a great whole custom cake, which can be ordered on our website.

Wednesday, 7/30 CLOSED

Friday, 8/1 8am-4pm
Saturday, 8/2 8am-4pm
Sunday, 8/3 8am-12pm (closing early)

After this we should be back open everyday from 8am-4pm! Thank you for understanding, sometimes closing up for a short time is easier than stretching everyone too thin.

Please note, if you have a special order and need to pick up after hours or on the days we’re closed, please call the bakery so that we can help get your order for you.
