Kingston has been awarded fellowships from the Brush Creek Ranch Foundation, The Colorado Council on the Arts, Harwood Museum, Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, Jentel, Ucross, and Fundación Valparaíso in Mojácar, Spain, among others. She received her MFA in Writing from Vermont College. www.katiekingston.com
A former Roman Catholic Sister of Mercy, English teacher, and management trainer, CAROLYN MARTIN is blissfully retired in Clackamas, OR, where she gardens, writes and plays with creative friends. Since the only poems she wrote in high school were red-penciled “extremely maudlin,” she is still amazed she continues to write. Her poems have appeared in a variety of journals across the US and the UK, and her second collection, The Way a Woman Knows, was released in 2015 by The Poetry Box, Portland, Oregon (www.thewayawomanknows.com).
