THIS WEEK’S SPECIAL: The Monte Cristo. Ham, turkey, and Swiss on French toast. Dusted with a little powdered sugar and served with raspberry preserves. The reviews are in on the test runs, and we might have a new full time menu item! Served with hash browns. $15

Hello!! This is Matt, the new owner of Fat City Cafe. Sorry it took so long for me to finally hop on here. I’ll keep this quick, but I would like to hit on a few things….

I’d like to begin by thanking Helen and Mark Johnson for trusting me to take Fat City into the future. They leave massive shoes to fill, and I promise I will give it my all in trying to fill them. In my first year at the helm I promise I will be in the building every second our doors are open. All 363 days. I want to meet the regulars, welcome the travelers, and most importantly assure everyone that the Fat City they know and love isn’t going anywhere.

The menu, the prices, and the cooks (the super talented Rudy, Roque, and Jesus) are all staying put! In time I might add some things to the menu, but right now it’s business as usual.

I don’t really have much more to say at the moment, but I’ll be on here a lot, so we’ll chat more this week. To those that have stopped in and supported us in 2026, thank you! And to everyone else, I hope you swing by. I’d love the opportunity to earn your trust!

One random note I’d like to add, we do accept all forms of payment. In the 17 days I’ve been the new owner I’ve been asked 100 times if we are still cash only, and I’d like everyone to know that we don’t care at all how you pay. You can pay in bitcoin for all I care.
