Sushi has become very popular, and even trendy, in the US over the recent past. However, with that popularity has also come an increasing divergence from the roots of this traditional cuisine. We at Sushi Hanada take great pride in providing West Ventura County the opportunity to enjoy the original "EDO-MAE" style of sushi, which dates back about 150 years. A thorough knowledge of seafood and how

to distinguish the highest quality required for sushi, requires many years of training. An experienced sushi chef can discern differences in quality among fish that appear indistinguishable to the untrained eye. In order to preserve the traditional style with the highest quality ingredients, Chef Hanada travels before sunrise to the Los Angeles fish market where the fish is flown in daily from all around the world. In only a handful of US cities can such a wide variety of sushi grade fish be found. While the source of many varieties of fish may vary with their seasonal migration, some are unavailable during certain times of the year. For the ULTIMATE sushi experience, may we suggest you order "OMAKASE" or "chef's choice". Chef Hanada will prepare a custom menu for you, selecting from the finest seafood presently available.

We humbly introduce Izakaya Jin to our community! "Izakaya" literally means "stay-drink-place" in Japanese, and that's exactly the vibe we're going for! We're serving up small Japanese tapas alongside a wide selection of beer, sake, and shochu.

While we may not be able to recreate Chef Yuki’s masterpieces, our goal is to create a warm, homey atmosphere where you can enjoy good Japanese food with friends and family. Our menu includes fresh fish from Japan for sushi and a variety of cold and warm tapas from the kitchen. Plus, we've got a selection of traditional Japanese dishes and home kitchen favorites!

It was an honor to know Yuki and even more of an honor to be able to take residence in the same establishment and continue his legacy of providing top-notch Japanese cuisine to the community. Our aim is to carry on Hanada-san's love and dedication to good, fresh, Japanese food and we can't wait to share that love with you!

It is with a sense of nostalgia and gratitude that we announce the closing of Sushi Hanada, our haven of Edo Mae style sushi since September 1, 1998. Your patronage has graced our humble establishment with warmth and joy throughout the years. We are deeply appreciative of your loyalty and cherished memories made here. On Saturday, November 4, 2023, we will bid you farewell. Your presence has been our greatest honor. Though our doors may close, the flavors and moments we've shared will live on in your hearts.

As we prepare to bow out, we do so with gratitude for your part in our journey. May the essence of Sushi Hanada linger in your memories, a taste of Japan's rich culinary heritage.
