It is with great sadness we regretfully inform you of the passing of Leroy Pleiness, Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The staff and management of the Port Hope Hotel would like to express our deepest sympathies to Leroy's family. Leroy was not only the long time owner of the Port Hope Hotel, but a valued and beloved member of the community. Leroy was known for his great generosity and love of Port Hope. And of course he was the inspiration and father of the legendary Leroy Burger.

I invite you all to share any thoughts, memories or stories you have of Leroy and the Port Hope Hotel. Although it is a sad time, it is also a time to celebrate a great life. God bless you Leroy and may you rest in peace.
