Three nights in September, dinner in downtown Port Clinton comes to the middle of the table. 🦐

Our Low Country Boil runs Thursday, September 24 through Saturday, September 26. The $25 base sets you up with andouille sausage carrying the smoke, red skin potatoes and corn on the cob that soak up everything around them, jalapeño cornbread on the side, and dessert to close the night.

The seafood is where you take over. Shrimp, crab clusters and crawfish are $15 each by the half pound, so you can build a plate for yourself or cover the whole table and let everyone reach.

Bring the people who like a dinner they can get their hands into. Reservations are strongly recommended for all three nights.

Good tuna does most of the work on its own, and this is very good tuna. 🐟

A hard sear gives the outside real color while the center stays deep and cool, and from there we build around it. Herbed farro underneath for weight and a nutty finish, a red wine reduction through the plate, olives and edible flowers to keep every bite moving.

Then it is up to you and the bar. Tell them what you are in the mood for, something stirred and spirit forward or something bright and cold, and they will put the right glass next to it.

There’s a lot going on in the Trident, and that’s the point. 🥗

Mesclun greens and Belgian endive make the base, and then it builds: aged bleu cheese and bacon lardons for depth, shaved radicchio, carrots and baby tomatoes for color, saffron pickled fennel and toasted pepitas for the bites you’ll remember on the drive home. Our stoneground mustard balsamic vinaigrette pulls all of it into one plate.

You’ll find it at dinner, and you’ll also find it at lunch. We’re open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 4, for lunch which makes it easy to spend an hour in the middle of your day eating something worth sitting down for in the heart of downtown Port Clinton.

A filet with a deep crust, a red wine pan sauce, charred asparagus, and a roasted cipollini onion, with a berry compote alongside to cut through the richness. Our kitchen is known for seafood, and this is the plate that reminds everyone we know our way around a steak as well.

Fall on the north coast is looking good. 🍂

We have six events on the calendar between now and November, including wine dinners from Willamette Valley to Piedmont, our Low Country Boil, the Clam Bake, and a cigar dinner with a live roller working the room.

There is something about a salmon fillet that has been seared properly, where the skin gives you that golden crackle and the inside stays soft and pink all the way through. We serve ours over a herbed risotto with a squash purée alongside, and it pairs beautifully with a crisp white from our list.

This is the kind of plate our kitchen sends out every night, and it is a good reason to come downtown whenever you want dinner to feel like an occasion. The room is warm, the brick and the candlelight do their work, and our bar is ready when you want the evening to stretch a little longer.

Poseidon Lounge has lunch in the heart of downtown Port Clinton. 🌊

Fresh seafood, a hand-built cocktail, and the white-tablecloth room you love at dinner are open midday now, Wednesday to Sunday from noon. Come in for Ora King salmon rillettes, a roasted beet salad, flash-fried calamari, and a full craft bar.
