Hi everyone,
As we rent our location, but with no definitive timeline on when the necessary repairs to our building will be completed, and regulations preventing us from opening for business in its current condition, we are unfortunately left with no alternative but to permanently close The Morning Muse Café.
After 20 years serving the community, we are heartbroken. It was a very difficult decision to make, and this is not how we expected our journey to end. Over those years, we have overcome many other obstacles, including Hurricane Charley in 2004; just a year after we bought the business, the Gulf oil spill, economic recessions, several red tide events, and the more recent COVID lock-downs. Then just four months ago, as it was for so many others, Hurricane Ian proved to be the final straw!
Meeting so many people, from far and wide, was always enjoyable. People said visiting the café was like eating in Grandma's kitchen. Our “regulars” became more like family, and we looked forward to seeing your smiling faces whenever you came through the door, whether it was daily, weekly, or just whenever you were in the area.
We've gone through many personal events with a lot of you, both happy and sad. From sorrow, with the loss of family members or pets, serious illnesses, and other tragedies, to celebrating milestones like birthdays, a new home, etc. We are honored that you felt comfortable enough to share your life stories and include us as part of your family. We will treasure those memories.
They say that our paths cross for a reason. We may not always know what that is at the time, but we are so grateful that we got to spend some time on your path!
As we cannot sell the business as a “going concern”, we are selling most of the items from the café, and are having a “Tag Sale”. This will be held on Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Please feel free to share this post with anyone you know who may want to stop by to check it out, or just to update those who would like to know the situation.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement,
Lori & Phil
