Two years today since Hurricane Ian took our business and disrupted our lives. It still hurts!😢

Here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and praying that this year will see humanity realizing that we are all more alike than we are different and that we only get one life. So, we should start to work together towards a common goal of peace throughout the world.

Amongst all the festivities, just take a moment to reflect and pray...Let there be Peace on Earth!

One year ago today, we were hunkered down for 12 hours suffering the onslaught of Hurricane Ian. In the 12 months since, we had to close The Morning Muse Café after 20 years in business, and relocate the real estate office. It has not been fun, but we are luckier than those who are still having to deal with the insurance fiasco, unscrupulous contractors, permitting delays, scammers, etc. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Just a reminder! Our 'business closing' tag sale is today and tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CASH ONLY. ALL SALES FINAL.

Hi everyone,

As we rent our location, but with no definitive timeline on when the necessary repairs to our building will be completed, and regulations preventing us from opening for business in its current condition, we are unfortunately left with no alternative but to permanently close The Morning Muse Café.

After 20 years serving the community, we are heartbroken. It was a very difficult decision to make, and this is not how we expected our journey to end. Over those years, we have overcome many other obstacles, including Hurricane Charley in 2004; just a year after we bought the business, the Gulf oil spill, economic recessions, several red tide events, and the more recent COVID lock-downs. Then just four months ago, as it was for so many others, Hurricane Ian proved to be the final straw!

Meeting so many people, from far and wide, was always enjoyable. People said visiting the café was like eating in Grandma's kitchen. Our “regulars” became more like family, and we looked forward to seeing your smiling faces whenever you came through the door, whether it was daily, weekly, or just whenever you were in the area.

We've gone through many personal events with a lot of you, both happy and sad. From sorrow, with the loss of family members or pets, serious illnesses, and other tragedies, to celebrating milestones like birthdays, a new home, etc. We are honored that you felt comfortable enough to share your life stories and include us as part of your family. We will treasure those memories.

They say that our paths cross for a reason. We may not always know what that is at the time, but we are so grateful that we got to spend some time on your path!

As we cannot sell the business as a “going concern”, we are selling most of the items from the café, and are having a “Tag Sale”. This will be held on Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please feel free to share this post with anyone you know who may want to stop by to check it out, or just to update those who would like to know the situation.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement,

Lori & Phil

Every year at midnight on December 31, we welcome the New Year with celebrations and mostly unrealistic resolutions. This year, with 365 new opportunities, why not just resolve to be better and be kinder!🤗❤️🙏

Well, Halloween has come and gone, and was far less scary than Hurricane Ian. Then Thanksgiving was upon us, which was still a reason to be thankful for our blessings. Now Christmas is here, and we are hoping Santa will bring us some good news about repairing the café wall! Of course, we celebrate the real reason for the season, and wish you all a safe and blessed Christmas.🎄🤗❤️🙏

Hi y'all,
Firstly, we hope everyone affected by the devastation from Hurricane Ian is safe and well.🙏
We are OK, and blessed that our home came through with no damage, other than a few missing screens in the pool cage. Mostly it was just landscaping and fence problems, and 12 days without power, phone, internet, etc. so communication was impacted.
Unfortunately, the café was not as lucky.🙁 Our building sustained significant damage to an exterior wall, which will need to be repaired before we can re-open, and this may take a while.
We truly appreciate the kind messages and offers of help that we have received, and apologize for the delay in replying and posting this update. As you will understand, like so many others dealing with the aftermath, we are taking it one day at a time.
Please continue to keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers.

The café is now closed, and in the process of boarding up! Watch this space for updates on when we will be open again. Hopefully, sooner rather than later!🙏 Everyone be prepared, stay safe, and we'll see you soon.🙂

A pleasant start to our week this Monday morning.🌞 But it looks like this is the calm before the storm! With Hurricane Ian on its way into the Gulf, we need to monitor carefully. Today may be the last day to make our preparations. Depending on any changes in the forecast, we may close early today. We will let you know here on our page. Also, check for updates to our schedule for the next few days. Y'all stay safe!🙏

We hope everyone will be monitoring the weather over the weekend for information on the potential local effects from the tropical system. Please use official sources like NOAA, NWS, or the local news channels for accurate details and updates. Don't trust social media, as rumors and hype serve no purpose in situations like this!
