Surf Fest is coming October 3rd to the historic Horace Caldwell Pier, right outside The Dunes Condos!

The Horace Caldwell Pier has long been a favorite surfing spot on Mustang Island's north end. And The Dunes sits right there!

This photo from March 1970 captures a piece of Port Aransas surf history and the beginnings of a culture that is still going strong today.

Surf culture took off along the Texas Coastal Bend in the early 1960s, when young surfers began setting up surfboard rental stands along the beaches. By 1970, thousands of people had caught the surfing bug, and Port Aransas had become part of a growing Texas surf community.

More than 50 years later, we’re still celebrating the waves and the people who love them with Port A Surf Fest! 🏄

Join us October 3rd from 8 AM - 4 PM at Horace Caldwell Pier for this year’s annual competition, featuring surfers of all ages and the Dog Surfing Contest! 🐶🏄‍♂️

This year’s Surf Fest is held in honor of Greg Villasana. His love and support helped make this event the success it is today, and this year’s logo reflects his style and brings his good vibes to the waves. ❤️
