The Pilgrims sailed from Holland back to England on the Speedwell to get ready for their journey to the New World. Then later in England the passengers met with other Pilgrims and other folks they called “Strangers.” The Strangers consisted of merchants, treasure hunters, gypsies and others of the type not looking so much for religious freedom as much as they were for adventure and riche

s. Speedwell was found to be taking on water, and it, along with the Mayflower, was put into Dartmouth for repairs. On the second attempt, Mayflower and Speedwell sailed about 100 leagues beyond Land's End, but Speedwell was again found to be taking on water. Finally they were forced to return to England and abandon the Speedwell that had become too leaky to continue on. Some say the mast was too large for the ship, others say its passengers purposely sabotaged it to get out of the long and difficult journey. There’s even a story kicking around that the owner of the Speedwell was so in love with the ship that he himself sabotaged it to spare it from the dangerous trip. Not all of the passengers from both ships could fit aboard the Mayflower and it became necessary to leave some of them behind, along with some of the very important cargo, a large amount of beer…

The Speedwell Tavern is a dedication to craft beer, a good cocktail and comfort food done right in a laid back and casual atmosphere. We offer 24 quality beers on draft, over 20 flavors of chicken wings, serve delicious all Angus beef specialty burgers, feature unique and creative dishes, all by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. SUNDAYYYYYY BABY!

It may be the last Football-less Sunday for a bit… but ya got tomorrow off and you may as well make something of it!

We sure did with a couple special sheet drops that MAYYYYY be a sneak peak of our new menu…. 👀

“Beautiful Dogs” are a couple of grilled Kayem glizzies topped with finely diced onion, crushed home fried potato chips and our “Inner Beauty” Spicy Curry Mango Mustard sauce on two butter grilled brioche rolls.

“Kahuna Smash” has two all beef smash patties topped with melted provolone with grilled pineapple rings, black pepper pastrami, Pineapple Express teriyaki sauce and a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning on a butter grilled Martin’s potato roll!

In her honor! We give you these Tennessee inspired “Nine to Fries” on this Fine French Fry Tuesday!!

1) Two golden fried chicken breasts tossed in 2) our Nashville Hot Sauce over a pile of 3) Nashville Hot Seasoned 4) Waffle Fries and drizzle with our 5) house buttermilk ranch and 6) Mikes Hot Honey then topped with 7) hickory smoked bacon, 8) scallions and 9) bread and butter pickles!!!

Fresh romaine tossed in creamy Caesar dressing crammed into a butter grilled Vienna sub roll and topped with our award winning buffalo tendeez, chopped bacon and garlic aioli!

Would be a reaaaal tragedy if you didn’t take a stab at this emperor of a Sangy now that it has returned!!
