We have the most amazing customers!!
Don’t try this at home
Edit to add:
I don’t want to belabor this post, which is why I’ve turned off commenting, however I would like to respond to some of the comments
I’ll try and keep it short and to the point, but I also have strong feelings and I’m too old to worry about what others may think
First, after reading some of the feedback, I reviewed my decision. Was it inappropriate, was I someone how exploiting this person (this made me even sicker to ponder!) and was it irresponsible, and of course questioning the cleanliness of my shop.
The most important is the statements the I exploited this child. I’m not sure how anyone could have considered this.
For me, and I am pretty sure the parent and the child, this was merely a celebration of hard work. I challenge any one of you to do this!
And to question the parents pride is crazy. There was no way any one should think that this was a safety risk. The kid is an amazing gymnast, and the parent was more than comfortable with her decision. She was simply a proud mother! That should be revered, and not looked at as some perverse display (that still turns my stomach)
Kids are often not praised enough, and it goes along way in their confidence. We took 1 minute to appreciate that, and somehow people turned it into something sick and irresponsible.
I hope that this child never reads your public comments. Can you imagine how crushing this would be to her.
I don’t have any problem with giving me feedback, but don’t do it where the whole world can read it. Concerning conversations should always be done in private first, like all other adult conversations.
But, I also think that your comments are really more of a reflection of you, than me or her parent. We even talked to her son and what he is proud of.
As for cleanliness, once again I feel this is beyond an over reaction. And if you doubt that we didn’t wipe it down, I’m happy to show you the security cameras.
Ok, I will get off my high horse, at least for now, but rest assured that this was done in fun (cause we are a cool ice cream shop) but also in celebration of people, and in particular this girl.
I will take this down shortly, or earlier if the parents want to. But to be clear, it’s not because I regret my decision, it’s because I hate that this child could read these comments and believe that she should be admonished for her accomplishments.
