KQED’s highly anticipated Taste & Sip event once again brought together some of the Bay Area’s most celebrated chefs, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and artisanal producers for an unforgettable evening of food, drink, and community. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to sample an extraordinary range of culinary offerings while mingling with fellow food enthusiasts in a lively celebration of the region’s rich and diverse dining scene.

Curry Leaves Bistro was honored to be among the select Top 50 participants invited to showcase our cuisine at this year’s event. The evening was buzzing with energy and drew an outstanding crowd eager to experience flavors from around the Bay. We proudly served Malaysia’s beloved national dish, Nasi Lemak, alongside roti canai and delicate roti jala, accompanied by a choice of chicken, fish, or vegetarian curry. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the vibrant flavors of Malaysia with so many enthusiastic guests.

It is with deep sadness to hear the passing of one of Penang’s doyen of Nyonya cuisine - Pearly Kee. Some of you might remember her when she visited CLB as guest chef/presenter back in 2023. She was one of my mentor especially when it comes to Penang Nyonya cuisine and served as an inspiration for me in the quest to preserve our culinary heritage.

You will be missed. I will remember your words of wisdom and advise always. Rest in Peace Pearly.
