Javier Laguna owns and operates this restaurant. He went from working at a grocery store in Puerto Rico to running a Chick-fil-A on University Drive, and he lives right here in our community. His sister works here. So does his brother-in-law. His kids grew up around these tables.

He still flies home to Puerto Rico to ride horses, and he comes back with the same warmth he grew up around. You feel it in how our team treats you, and in how we treat each other. Fun isn't a distraction here. It's part of how the work gets done. 🐴

Team dinner Thursday, birthday Saturday, teacher lunch Monday.

August fills up before the backpacks are unpacked. 😅

Our party menu is built for exactly that week — a Chick-n-Strips Tray for the crowd, a Fruit Tray for the table nobody planned for, a Chocolate Chunk Cookie Tray so dessert is already settled.

You pick the time and the place. We have it ready when you pull up on University Drive.

The entrée took a few minutes. The afternoon took three hours.

You know how Saturday usually goes. Somebody has practice. There's a to-do list on the counter. Lunch happens in the car between two errands and nobody actually looks up.

This past Saturday, August 8, you didn't leave.

You sat down. Your kid climbed into a red chair and picked a tiger. You got a few minutes to yourself while somebody else did the entertaining.

The balloon artist made a heart, a turtle, a ladybug, and a blue star crown that one of our Team Members wore for the rest of the afternoon. There were cupcakes with little school buses on top. And at a table right in the middle of it, a birthday cake with candles and everything.

Nobody was checking the time.

You could have grabbed lunch and gone. You stayed instead, and the room was better for it. ❤️

We plan these Saturdays so families have somewhere to be together.

Last-minute school errands are happening either way.

So make the last stop the good one. This Saturday, August 8, from 12 to 3pm, bring a school-supply receipt of $10 or more — wherever you bought them — and your entrée is on us here at Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise. The Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich or an 8-count of Chick-fil-A Nuggets, one per household.

Then stay a while. Face painting, cupcakes, and a photo with the Cow. 🎈

His kids never heard him talk about the hard days. They watched how he handled them.

Javier worked in a supermarket in Puerto Rico. Today he runs Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise, right here on University Drive. His two sons and his daughter were there for all of it — including the day we celebrated our grand opening, standing next to him in the photo you just swiped past.

He didn't do this to hand them a building. He did it so they could watch it happen. So they'd know you can start where he started and still end up here.

Most of us go all week without stopping to think about why we're doing any of it. Monday starts and you don't come up for air until Friday. But somebody is watching you the same way those three watched him. Your kids. A younger cousin. Someone new on your team.

Put these two dates in your phone before you scroll. August moves fast. 🗓️

Two Saturdays, and we planned both around you.

On the 8th, bring a school-supply receipt of $10 or more between 12 and 3 pm and your entrée is on us — The Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich or 8-count Chick-fil-A Nuggets, one per household. Then stay for face painting, cupcakes, and a photo with the Cow.

On the 22nd, breakfast starts at 9:30, and bingo starts right after. Come hungry, stay for a game, leave with a Saturday morning that felt relaxing and fun.🎈

Both are the kind of mornings you remember because of who was sitting next to you.

The best part of hosting should be actually enjoying your own party.

Birthdays. Baby showers. The work team luncheon or Q3 meeting. A backyard barbecue. A Saturday picnic at Plantation Central Park.

Order the trays, set them out, and it looks like you planned it for weeks. 😉

No cart in the checkout line at 8 pm the night before. No forty minutes seasoning meat for twenty people. No scorched pot in the sink at 11 pm with your wrist doing all the work. No standing alone in the kitchen while everyone else catches up in the other room.
