This past weekend, as we reflected and paused to celebrate the 250th Independence Day, we understand that the first Independence Day didn’t look like what we celebrated on Saturday.
The American Revolution started on April 19th 1775. We were over a year into the war when the Second Continental Congress approved our Declaration of Independence. July 4th was forever changed!
Not everyone who signed the Declaration was there on that day. Many were still on battle fields all over the 13 colonies. By August 2, 1776 most of the delegates had signed the hand written copy of the Declaration of Independence.
When those Men signed that Declaration, they were committing treason against the King of England.
The enemy gets angry when you come against him. When you give your life to Jesus Christ, that’s when the enemy Really comes after you!
These men knew what they were doing but they also knew that God was on their side!
There have been many people since then who have paid the ultimate price and sacrificed their lives for our freedom in this country.
BUT JESUS CHRIST paid the ultimate price and was the sacrifice for Your eternal freedom!
