Sorry for the long Haitus !

Spring 2021 is around the corner and I read an interesting article today posted this week on South China Morning Post about the origins of The famous Hainanese Chicken Rice.

Hainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chilli sauce and usually with cucumber garnishes. It was created by immigrants from Hainan in southern China and adapted from the Hainanese dish Wenchang chicken.

Spring 2019 is around the corner !,Are you craving for that special bowl of spicy laksa? Swing by Secret Recipe this weekend, if you have not sampled our Malaysian/Singapore inspired style Laksa.

Laksa is a spicy noodle soup popular in Peranakan cuisine Laksa consists of thick wheat noodles or rice vermicelli with chicken, prawn or fish, served in spicy soup based on either rich and spicy curry coconut milk or on sour asam. Laksa is found in Indonesia Malaysia, Singapore, and Southern Thailand.

This year, Chinese New Year - The Year of the Pig - begins on Tuesday, February 5,2019 and lasts until February 20th, 2019. Secret Recipe Plano will be serving Yu Sheng (Prosperity Toss) or also known as lo hei is a Teochew-style smoked salmon salad. It will consists of strips of smoked salmon, mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients.

Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since "fish (魚)" is commonly conflated with "abundance (余)", Yúshēng is interpreted as a homophone for Yúshēng meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, yu-sheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor.

Secret Recipe Plano will be offering Fa Choy Yu-Sheng from February 3rd, 2018 and while stock last!
