Chef Ron said what he said.

Ron is the Director and Executive Chef over Oasis Foods. Everyday Cafe, Oasis Community Kitchen, all of it runs through him.

So when he tells you to come out on October 17, go ahead and listen.

Taste of Oasis. Saturday, October 17, noon to 3. Oasis Community Events Center, 717 N Homewood Ave, lower level. Free admission.

One week out.

Next Saturday, October 17, the Oasis Community Events Center turns into a room full of food and the people who made it. Chef Ron is here to tell you himself.

Noon to 3. Free admission. Come through hungry.

717 N Homewood Ave, lower level.

Before this cafe opened there was no third space in Homewood to sit down with somebody over a cup of coffee, not one place in the whole neighborhood.

That changed ten years ago this November, when Bible Center opened the doors at 532 N Homewood.

They are still open. We are raising $15,000 by the anniversary to keep it that way.

Give to the cafe, get something for your laptop.

We are raising $15,000 by our 10th anniversary in November, and every contribution comes with an Everyday Cafe tech tattoo for the laptop you have probably already had open at one of our tables.

Cup of Community, $15. Bridge Builder, $100. Decade of Impact, $1,000. Or any amount at all.

Cafe sales by themselves do not keep this place running. This cafe belongs to Bible Center, and keeping the door open is one of the ways we love this neighborhood.

Before it was a cafe, it looked like this.

Bible Center did not find a coffee shop in Homewood and take it over. There was not one. The church built this room so the neighborhood would have somewhere to sit down together.

Ten years this November.

Our pastor left Homewood in 1983 and swore he was never coming back. He moved back in 2004 anyway.

One afternoon he was standing out on Homewood Avenue with a friend. They agreed to go get a cup of coffee and sit down and talk, then looked at each other and realized there was nowhere in Homewood to do that.

Bible Center built this cafe so there would be.

Everyday Cafe turns ten this November. We are raising $15,000 by the anniversary to invest in the next ten.

Here is something you might not know. Nearly everything you eat at Everyday Cafe starts right here in our commercial kitchen. From prep to plating, this is where the cafe food comes to life before it makes the short trip over there to your table. One kitchen, feeding the whole mission.
