May is Jazz Poetry Month at City of Asylum, and every Thursday we’re reminded what an honor it is to share space with such a beautiful mission.
Last week, our dining room was alive with the punk-jazz fusion of James Brandon Lewis & The Messthetics, alongside poets Mark Andryczyk, Rania Mamoun, and Volodymyr Rafeyenko — an unforgettable evening of sound, language, and artistic energy.
Being housed within Alphabet City, the home of City of Asylum, means more to us than we can properly express. Their work supporting persecuted writers and artists, and their belief in the power of creative expression, is both inspiring and deeply important.
In a time when so much feels uncertain, it matters to have places like City of Asylum — places built on compassion, courage, and hope. We are proud to stand alongside that mission and grateful to help welcome these extraordinary evenings into our space.
Reservations are still available for this Thursday’s Jazz Poetry performance, and we hope to see you here.
