Pittsburgh’s oldest and largest brewery, Penn is housed in the mid nineteenth-century landmark E&O Brewery Building in the North Side’s Deutschtown neighborhood, which was settled by German immigrants. Penn has been producing high-end craft beers since 1986, specializing in authentic, award-winning German-style beers brewed in the tradition of these immigrants, according to the strict quality stan

dards of Reinheitsgebot. Our beers’ great taste comes from real German hops and two-row barley, with no added corn or rice fillers. Penn Brewery’s restaurant serves traditional “Euro-Pittsburgh” fare including wurst, schnitzel, pierogi, and goulash alongside our beers. In the spirit of our classic Pittsburgh theme, our menu emphasizes fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Penn is open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 noon to 10pm, and regularly hosts live entertainment. A lovely cobblestone biergarten is open seasonally. Private party bookings are also available. Penn Brewery is proudly independently owned and operated.

It’s Summer Celebration at Oakmont Bakery today, and the paczki are BACK! We’ll be by the bakery fireplace TODAY with a few cases of Penn Brewery X Oakmont Bakery Paczki Beer. Creamy, delicious and brewed with actual Oakmont Bakery Pittsburgh Cream paczki. Nom nom nom. So creamy, so frothy, so good. It’s basically a pillowy pastry of a beer. We’ll be set up by 10:30am, with a limit of two 6-packs per person, while supplies last. And when these are gone, that’s it for 2026! See you soon at the bakery. Bring the big car and toss a case of their paczki in the trunk, too!

It’s yinzerific biergarten weather this afternoon on the North Side! 😎🍺 Please support Penn Brewery and celebrate our newest Gold Medal with a meet & greet with our head brewer, Chris. We open at 3pm with seating in our cobblestone biergarten and a little summer menu of brats, hot dogs and more. Chris has escaped from behind the glass and will be on the restaurant floor from 4-6pm. He’s one of the mad scientists behind our back-to-back U.S. Open Gold Medal-winning Eisbock. Eisbock is traditionally made by partially freezing a strong bock and removing the ice, leaving behind a stronger, more concentrated beer. There’s even an old Bavarian legend that the style was discovered by accident when barrels of bock were left outside to freeze. Chris will be taking questions and would love to discuss the history and science behind this unique brew and Penn’s freeze-concentration process, which starts to sound suspiciously like distilling without actually being distillation. Come hear how it’s done, try our 13.7% Gold Medal winner, and take some home for $15 a 6-pack or $30 a case today. Going to the Cubbies game? Stop in for a pint and pregame with Penn. Free parking! Gold! Again! Penn Brewery brings home the Gold Medal, for the second year in a row, for EISBOCK in the Strong 💪 Bock category at the 2026 US Open Beer Championships! Add in our Great American Beer Festival Medal for Oktoberfest last fall, and it’s clear that Penn continues to prove, again and again, that what we do best is make great beer. This is an incredible accomplishment (although, if you’ve had our beer or met the brew team, maybe not all that surprising 😉)  Please stop in at 800 Vinial today give our team a high-five and grab some of this championship-caliber beer before settling in to watch the World Cup Final this afternoon. Mike’s got us open 12-4pm TODAY so you can grab a fresh case of our Gold Medal-winning Eisbock (they’re the cutest little cans but don’t let their size fool you) and we have brats and dogs, cheezy fries and more on our little restructurizationizing menu. Penn Brewery is OPEN today from 12-4pm!

Grab a beer in our biergarten and we’re flinging open the gates TODAY to our historic lagering caves, opening them up for yinz to cool off in while drinking a pint of Penndemonium and eating a brat from our grill! Built into the hillside, the caves stay a constant 55° year-round and were used to lager beer before refrigeration was commonplace. Let your eyes adjust in the smaller cave and you and the fam can still see the massive original wooden lagering barrels that have been sitting in our caves for well over a century.

Our 2 cases (!!!) of Penn Light bottles for $25 special ends today (while supplies last). At 4.12% abv, it’s an easy-drinking craft light beer perfect for summer.
