Was sad to hear about ourfriend Bart Solarczyk leaving us. Bart was a big supporter and a great person. His book release party for “Tilted World” was one of the last big events before we closed. Here is a pic from that night where Bart read to a packed house. Say hi to Tami for us. Thanks for leaving behind your work for me to enjoy forever. -Mike

10 years ago today, Coffee Buddha opened its doors. Although we closed our doors last year, the memories linger strong.

When you walked into the cafe and you saw one of these faces behind the bar, you knew you were about to have an experience.

Just wanted to clarify, as I’ve gotten a bunch of texts regarding this article that sort of lumps Coffee Buddha in with business closures due to COVID-19

We closed for 100 different reasons, COVID 19 WAS NOT one of them. 2/29/2020 was the last day, a couple weeks before shutdown.

I know this is just closures in general, but the implication from the article reads as If we were a victim of the corona virus, we were not.

Some legendary Pittsburgh-area bars and restaurants shut their doors permanently in the first half of the year.

People ask me all the time what I do now for coffee since we closed.

The answer is: The same exact thing I did when we were open.

Commonplace Coffee is one of multiple locations serving the best beans in the burgh.

This single origin Papua New Guinea Kunjin was a mainstay on our menu for years. It is still available from Commonplace. Visit and support one of their spots and grab some. Right now.
