Where tradition meets a fresh pour. The Modern Cafe was established in 1933 and is currently on the third owners. After a fire on NYE of 2009 in an neighboring business, The Modern reopened as the largest craft beer bar on the North Side with a kitchen raking up awards for their sandwiches and homemade soups! Kitchen is only open till 9pm, be sure to stop in for hot sandwich and ice cold beer! ***

Bar and Kitchen closing times are subject to change with seasonal weather

The Modern is within walking distance to Heinz Stadium, PNC Park, CCAC and the Rivers Casino.

We’ve been keeping a delicious secret, and it’s finally time to share. Starting this weekend, The Modern Cafe is officially serving Brunch!

Join us every Saturday & Sunday from 9AM TO 2PM for all your morning favorites—including these golden, sugar-dusted biscuit beauties with homemade maple bourbon and berry cheesecake dipping sauces.

Friday is the Girl Scout cookie sale at The Modern Cafe! We love to support our local troops 🤠 ❤️

Anyone can pre-order cookies from Iris's site, select "Girl Delivery", and use The Modern Cafe (862 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233) as the delivery address. The cookies will be available for pickup at the Modern Cafe on Friday, March 6, from 4-8. You will also be able to purchase cookies on site during the same time window.
