This native New Yorker has welcomed over 35,000 customers to the restaurant with his continental Italian specialties. The North Shore of Pittsburgh has recently been the center of a number of redevelopment projects which marks the beginning of the “Third Renaissance” for the “Steel City.” Legends of the North Shore Restaurant further encompass this legendary facelift on the North Side, and is a definite welcome to the neighborhood residents. Walking through the front door of the establishment, you first smell the aromas of fresh bread baking, and at the same time, observing great Italian food being prepared by a qualified staff. As you sit at the bar, waiting for your table, possibly enjoying a glass of w**e—you can’t help wonder how it all started. Bartow was born in Long Island, New York, graduated from the Sullivan College in upstate New York, interned at The Disney Inn at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and worked at the Flying Bridge Restaurant in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He continued to perfect his Italian cuisine while working and managing a number of local restaurants. But it wasn’t until a few years ago, while working at Legends on the Green Restaurant, located in the South Hills, that his entrepreneurship future was destined to own and manage his own restaurant. Legends EATERY not only boasts the finest Italian food in the city—but it’s also a family business. His wife Zoe, children Kristopher and Danyelle and mother-in-law, Connie Springhetti, all work together to achieve one collective goal—to consistently offer excellent food, service, and provide the ambience marked by excellence and simple elegance. Chef Dan has prepared his culinary masterpieces for residents on the North Side but there have been customers who have stopped in from Georgia, New York, California, and even as far away as Rome, Italy and Puerto Rico!
