Thanks to everyone who supported us, befriended us, worked for us, recommended us, advised us, prayed for us, and understood our crazy personal schedules! It's been a wild three years! A special shout out to our four amazing sons-they have worked more at the Thistle than any one of us had intended, but they always come in clutch when we need them, in true Baker form. We're excited to spend more time with them!

This week we are transitioning fully into Baker's Catering! Our email is [email protected] and our website will be live soon at www.bakerscatering.com We're still setting up social media under our new brand so follow us there soon to see our caterings and the kinds of food we like to create to compliment your event.

Also, we will again be participating in Piqua's "Taste of the Arts" festival but this year as Baker's Catering so you'll get to see a sample of our catering! That festival is downtown Piqua on May 17th and is fun for all ages!

Today is our last day serving customers as the Scottish Thistle. We hope you've been able to come in over the last week and get your fix of Fish and Chips, Scotch Eggs, Smoked Gouda, Shepherd Pies and all the good things you've come to love from the Thistle! Thank you to all of you, particularly our regulars that have been patient with us as we've learned so much over the last three years! We've made friendships that we absolutely treasure and look forward to continuing that friendship!

As most of you probably know, Tim and I (Janelle) own The Orrmont Estate and Round Barn Venue here in town as wedding and event venues. One of the primary reasons we opened the Scottish Thistle was because we wanted to break into catering our events. And who hasn't thought it would be fun to own a restaurant/bar at some point, right? Or maybe that's just us! It seemed like a great fit for us to grow our business model to open the Scottish Thistle and cater out of here.

What we didn't bank on was how much STUFF there is for catering! Turns out, there is not enough room in the kitchen at the Thistle for all of it. What you may not know is we bought the old Masonic Temple next to the YMCA. We are currently almost completed with putting in a commercial kitchen there so we can move our catering business there. That way we cannot only cater at our own venues, but will have capacity to be able to cater at other venues, or do a drop to your house or have you pick up.

Over the last three years, what we have realized is we have a passion for feeding people good quality food. It makes my heart happy to know people walk away with a full and happy belly! Catering will continue that going forward.

Now comes the hard part. Our lease is up with the City for the Thistle and our catering kitchen will be done next week. We have made the incredibly hard decision to close the restaurant and focus on our core business of events. We feel strongly we need to follow where our passion is and focus on what brings us the most joy.

We have met so many great people over the last three years both as customers and employees, learned so much about the food industry, the public, the people of Piqua, and even our own family. We did not come to this decision lightly and without lots of thought, discussions, prayers, and advice, so it is with very mixed emotions we tell you our last day open as the Scottish Thistle will be April 28, 2024.

This is the best decision for the Baker family overall (we get to be grandparents this year!) but we will miss the Scottish Thistle and our regulars more than you know!
