This week, The Josephine Spotlight shines on Smith’s Catering

✨ Meet Chris and Leslie Smith. After serving with a non-profit disaster relief organization, Chris found his love for cooking. He started cooking for family and friends’ special events and in 2023, they decided to start Smith’s Catering. They are a husband and wife team and like to include both of their daughters in the business as much as possible. They love seeing their customers and guests leave happy and well fed!

Smith’s Catering offers: They offer catering for wedding receptions, rehearsal suppers, birthday parties, corporate events, baby showers, and anything else you may need.

Things that take WAY longer than the average Jane thinks they will…. Wedding edition.

Steaming tablecloths. 45-60 min EACH. I’m not kidding you. No you can’t iron them on the tables. No you can’t rely on the steam option on your fancy dryer. LUCKILY, we provide luxury wrinkle free table linens on all indoor tables. But don’t kid yourself. It’s a full days work otherwise!

Steaming Bridesmaid dresses and gown. DO IT EARLIER IN THE WEEK. And practice on something other than your dress first in order to figure out the steamer settings. 🫶🏽You are welcome.

Filling jars with water for floating candles. 😂😂😂😂 this is not a last min thing. You need a pitcher that doesn’t slosh and access to running water, and a steady hand. If you spill it, it needs time to dry before the wedding.

Those dang orbeez. NUMBER ONE, talk to venue and learn about rules regarding Orbeez. NUMBER TWO, this is a day before/2 days before kinda thing.
Orbeez are Micro beads that grow in water and expand to marble size in hours. Reminds me of what happens when Gizmo touches water. He spits out gremlins. My Gen Xers will get the reference 😂

Building centerpieces. (If you are not a professional florist). Florals are such a big part of weddings, even the ones you think are going to be simple. Bud vases? Sure! Easy peezy! Except that you need to sort, clip and strip before setting them out. 😆 the larger ones involve more mechanics. Don’t forget florist shears and wire cutters!
