As many of you know, my husband Jim began his battle against cancer 12 years ago.
Through that devastating diagnosis, our family gained many friends who have showed us so much love, support and concern for our family over the years.
His physical health battle was visible to the public, but the silent battle with mental illness continued to spread, much like a cancer, but even more deadly.
For the past 10 days I have struggled with finding the words.
10 days ago, I lost my husband, Jim.
While our family shared updates regarding Jim’s physical health over the years, the mental health battle was much deeper, more complicated, and arguably even more painful.
This is not how his story should have ended.
At the end of his life, Jim wasn’t himself. Over the years, the husband and father we knew slowly disappeared and in his place stood depression, pain, and hurt.
The boys and I loved Jim through his battles and we continue to love him even in his passing.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience for our family as we process the devastating ending to the storm that has been our lives.
