Celebrating 50+ Years of Homecooked Meals! Congratulations! I had worked with Mrs. "I cook all day long."

In 1963, Edith Miller sold her cafe to Jim and Lila Wunderlick. "It was my husband, Jim's idea to buy the Cafe," Lila recalled, "At the time I ran Piedmont's telephone switchboard. Miller int eh Cafe when I was a teenager, so it wasn't like running a cafe was going to be a completely new thing." In 1971, they moved the Cafe across the street to the east where it's been open just about all-day-long six-days-a-week ever since. "I don't go home until around 8 p.m., depending on the customers," said Lila. She's always happy to fix you something to eat regardless of what time you visit. Lila serves a daily special, as well as common short order items like burgers and fries and hamburger steak. And, there's fresh pies. "I cook like I'm at home," she proudly admits. You can also pick up some necessary grocery items if you need to! Lila's is a gathering place for local farmers and ranchers. And, "people from out of town stop for a meal and later bring back their friends who, in turn, tell their friends." Today, Lila is assisted by two daughters, Annette and Becky, and Lilas' sister-in-law, Dottie.
