At The Joy Bus, food isn't an afterthought. It's our craft. 💛

Every biscuit is made from scratch. Our red chile simmers for hours. Even our hollandaise begins with a tarragon vinegar steeped for four days before it ever reaches your plate.

Whether we're serving guests at the diner or delivering meals to homebound cancer patients, every dish is chef-driven, thoughtfully prepared and made with real ingredients.

No shortcuts. No preservatives. No boxes or premade mixes.

Behind every meal is a lifetime of culinary passion, countless hours of preparation and a belief that food should be colorful, nourishing and absolutely delicious.

Ten years ago, I put the Cup of Joe, Side of Dough on our menu as a little nod to Portlandia and my Portland roots. Never actually imagined we’d get the man himself through our doors.

And FINALLY, Fred Armisen stopped by The Joy Bus Diner!

As if I couldn’t dig this guy any more, turns out he’s even more amazing in person.

A huge thank you to Fred and his team for making this happen. And to Fred and Carrie for giving the world the absolute gift that is Portlandia.

Fred (and Carrie), you’ve had a place on our menu for a decade and now you’ll always have a seat at our table.

So freaking grateful. 💛

We’re grateful to share that The Joy Bus recently received a generous grant from Discount Tire’s Driven To Care Program to support our More Than a Meal Delivery Program. 💛

This support will help us continue delivering chef-inspired meals and meaningful connection to Valley residents facing cancer, because every delivery is about so much more than the meal.

This week’s featured bowl was created by Chef Kenny in partnership with Fox Restaurant Concepts and Doughbird. It’s a celebration of fall flavors, featuring roasted butternut squash, oven-roasted tomatoes, glazed bacon, torn basil and pistachios.

Every purchase helps support our mission of serving homebound cancer patients throughout the Valley.

We're celebrating with a recipe that has traveled all the way from Zurich to our table: Jennifer's Bircher Muesli from The Joy Bus Cookbook!

This Swiss staple was created by Dr. Bircher-Benner and brought into Jennifer's life over a decade ago by her friend Armin. It quickly became a family favorite—made in big batches on Sundays for the kids to enjoy all week long. Armin's secret? A few tablespoons of ground almonds for nuttiness and a boost of texture that takes it to the next level.

The Joy Bus is more than a diner. We’re also a nonprofit that delivers medically tailored meals to people undergoing cancer treatment. Each week, we provide thousands of free meals to nourish our neighbors through treatment and recovery.

Here’s a fun nod to our roots: At the top of our menu, you’ll find the Cup of Joe, Side of Dough. Our founder and CEO opened her first restaurant in Portland while playing bass in a ’90s punk band!
