Beyond the food, we’re lucky to have his humor, personality and, of course, that dashing smile around here every day.

The story of the Fiji water. 💧

This is Jeff Tendick.

A few days before this picture was taken, Jeff and Caffe Boa weren't exactly on the best of terms.

What started with a disagreement over the water we serve turned into a negative review, some back and forth online and more attention than either of us probably expected.

Then something happened that doesn't happen nearly enough on the internet.

Jeff reconsidered some things. Patrick reconsidered some things.

When Patrick learned that Jeff had changed his review, he reached out and invited Jeff back to Boa as our guest.

Jeff responded with an incredibly sincere apology. Patrick realized he owed Jeff one too.

A couple days later, instead of being two strangers disagreeing from opposite sides of a screen, they were sitting across from each other at Boa.

They talked. They laughed. They apologized. They shook hands.

And they actually got to know each other.

That's the part of this story we want to remember.

It's incredibly easy to dig in, defend everything we've said, assume the worst about someone we've never met and make damn sure we get the last word.

It takes a little more humility to reconsider. To have a change of heart. To accept an apology. And sometimes, to realize you owe one yourself.

Turns out, the person on the other side of the screen can actually be a pretty damn good guy.

Before Jeff arrived, Patrick walked across the street and bought one very specific peace offering for the occasion.

A bottle of Fiji water. 😂

And with that, it was officially water under the bridge. 💧🤝

HOW ABOUT THAT STORM LAST NIGHT?! 🌧️
We just checked our rain bucket and we're happy to report that we collected enough clean, refreshing, locally sourced rain water to provide FREE WATER to everyone today.
Cucumber is optional. Just ask us to leave it out.
And because apparently we're feeling generous, anyone who comes in for the free water today will also receive FREE air conditioning, FREE humidity and unlimited complimentary oxygen.
Food available for purchase.
Rain-to-table. Farm-to-table was getting boring. 💧

We're considering adding a Monthly N**e Dining Night

Before we move forward, we'd like to get a rough headcount.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Spaghetti has the accuracy of a bullwhip.

• Lasagna is served approximately three degrees cooler than Phoenix asphalt in August.

• Parmesan can and will end up places Parmesan has no business being.

• Fresh cracked pepper is available upon request. Choose wisely.

• The bread basket is for sharing. Interpret that however you'd like.

• Napkins will be provided, but they may not cover what you're hoping they cover.

• No refunds if our (meat)balls are bigger than yours.

Six years ago today, on August 3, 2020, Jenni and I took our first leap into business ownership. While most people think our entrepreneurial journey began when we bought Caffe Boa Ahwatukee on June 9, 2021, it actually started here, at Luv A Sub.
We bought this legacy sandwich shop in the middle of the COVID pandemic. Plenty of people probably thought we were crazy, and maybe they weren't entirely wrong. 😄
Luv A Sub wasn't our forever business, but it gave us something even more valuable: experience. We learned lessons you simply can't learn from a book or by working for someone else. It laid the foundation for everything we've built at Caffe Boa.
Looking back, it's a reminder that the right decision isn't always the easiest one. Sometimes the biggest opportunities show up disguised as the biggest risks.
Thank you to everyone who supported us back then, and to everyone who continues to support us today. We truly couldn't do any of this without you.
This photo was taken on the first anniversary of becoming business owners, a milestone that reminds us where it all began.

Patrick looked out the front window at 10:45 yesterday morning... and immediately knew it was time to activate the Lasagna Signal.
For the first time in Patrick's five years of owning Caffe Boa, people were waiting for us to unlock the doors before we even opened.
By 10:45 a.m., nearly 20 people were already outside waiting for 11:00 to roll around.
Let's just say National Lasagna Day turned out to be even bigger than Patrick and Chef Chris imagined.
They were thrown into the deep end... and it was definitely a learning experience. 😄
Once Patrick saw the line forming outside, he did what any reasonable restaurant owner would do... he threw up the Lasagna Signal.
Within minutes, Jenni and Chef Martin came running to the rescue, and together they helped make one of the most important (and definitely 100% real 😉) holidays of the year a success.
This might sound a little strange coming from a restaurant...
But we've never believed a restaurant exists for one reason alone.
Yes, sometimes business is about making a profit. Other times, it's about giving back to the community that's supported us for more than 30 years.
That's why you'll always hear us say, Community Above Everything Else.
It's also why we're "crazy" enough to give away one of our signature dishes, our 2-pound Beef Lasagna, to celebrate National Lasagna Day.
To everyone who joined us yesterday, whether you were one of the first 29 or simply came in to celebrate with us...
Thank you.
Thank you for reminding us why we love what we do.
None of this happens without an incredible community behind us, and we never take that support for granted.
