Happy Birthday to us 🥳 9 years ago today we opened Glaibaan 🏚️. We did not tell anyone, we did everything ourselves, Dan’s parents didn’t even know about it until the day of.. New time called “can you tell us about it a little ? We want to know before 5 and that was when we schedule to open I said it’s going be a Thai restaurant😀 I hung up.. called Dan to tell him that he had to tell his mum. we have 3 people including me in the kitchen , 2 people outside .. Dan still had his day job ..fast forward 9 years later..we have our chosen family. 19 of us now .. we didn’t have a story for marketing purposes when we opened. we have the real story now. It’s a learning story. Day by day. We had built relationships with our guests over the years.. so many have become good friends , and people we look forward to having walk through our doors….a lot bring gifts , cards, wine , produces , even cosmetics for me 😆they might think I need to maintain my beauty in the kitchen. 😍 I appreciate it. Here is another card .. we will miss you guys too….cheers to many more to come. And this is all we want!!! To be able to give our best to our guests, our staff and our community 🥰

This restaurant serves one table a day . It’s in a little house ( her house ) 1 and a half hour drive from Bangkok. It’s only through the reservation and it’s almost impossible to get without knowing someone. The food is made by this lovely lady and her family…they follow the old recipe book strictly. She is there with you for the whole meal explaining the history of the dishes and the process of making it .. this one is from old recipe from the palace . She is so grateful and prideful of our cuisine.. the food was so good ! I felt so lucky to be able to go there this time !

Our break is wrapping up, and while it's been an adventure, it's been exhausting trying to fit everything in. When guests ask for restaurant recs, I'd say it depends on where you're staying - no need to brave the traffic unless it's a must-visit. Bangkok's got endless options everywhere, from street food to fancy ambiance etc. I recently dined at a spot my sister booked months ahead - they serve a preselected set menu with optional extras, blending old recipes with creative twists. With only 7 tables, it's intimate, and food is served at your reservation time, whether you are there or not 😅. Don't be late! You can see from there. If you're staying nearby ,there are great restaurants and bars to explore. like .th and . I love live jazz!

Happy Friday !! A little behind the scene how we do our reservations 🥰 every night, we check our voice mail and write it all down. Every morning, another person will call everyone back. We have been asked often why we don’t have on line system which will make our lives a lot easier … come down to it , we just want to reserve some human interaction as much as we can for now. So old school it is. ❤️❤️ we provide a glass of wine at night and some cookies with coffee in the morning though 😋

I love the food scene in Thailand now especially here in Bangkok. There are endless options for dining out from street food to normal dining to fine dining . Many young people go to study abroad or go to culinary school , intern with chefs from around the world and come back home to open their restaurant ..putting a new spin or introducing modern techniques to their food . This restaurant is hard to get a reso. (It’s in a small house converted to a restaurant.) They open up their Reso’s on a specific time on a certain day which is pretty normal for this type of place . What is different about this restautant is they will send you the menu through Line app or message and let you preorder ( you can’t order in the restaurant) then they will start serving food at your reso time with or without you there. 😆In my case, I got stuck in bad traffic and arrived 30 minutes late. 🤨 the food was already there waiting for me at the table 🥰. The flavors were on point , the presentation were delivered deliberately. The service was prompt. You can only take home leftovers if you prepared your own container .. overall I enjoyed the food and experience here with my family .

I loved this restaurant! It was recommended to me by our guests who recently visited Thailand (they love wine and good food😊). I saw the chef owner of the fine dining restaurant I mentioned in the previous post here. This restaurant is for sure popular . I met up with one of our dearest regular guests for dinner. I’ve known Grace for nearly 8 years, she’s been coming into Glaibaan since she was 18 years old 🥹 … It was amazing to be able to meet up with her and talk food while she is exploring Asian countries for the first time😀
