Open Mic Night is coming to MacAlpine’s! and the stage is open to anyone brave enough to grab the mic.

Sing something. Tell a joke. Play an instrument. Bring something weird you’ve been working on. Or just grab a table, order some food, and come watch what happens. 👀

MacAlpine’s has been part of Phoenix since 1929, and nights like this are about giving people another reason to gather inside these walls and keep this historic little piece of the city alive.

So if you’ve been saying you want to get out more, meet people, perform somewhere, or just do something different for once…

MacAlpine's a bit of history. Throw Back Thursday . Just imagine 1934, a few years before Fred MacAlpine purchased the drugstore business. The view is looking west along Granada from 16th Street. Note the dirt street. And the modern picture (courtesy of Carrisa Reppert) taken just a few weeks ago.

Once again, a bit of history. Throw Back Thursday MacAlpine's supported many activities in Phoenix and one year they sponsored a soapbox derby car. While the young driver, Hal, who lived in the neighborhood did not win, it certainly was special to see that name go whizzing by on the track. The fountain is still there and the pharmacy portion houses our kitchen. Isn't it about time to come in and enjoy our food and fascinating antiques and retro items?

Throw Back Thursday. The Kent house is around the corner from MacAlpine's and down 8th Street. The original owner of the house lived there until the late 1980s. The wood clapboard two-story house was constructed in 1920. Note the windows on the second floor. Ventilation for the house before evaporative coolers or air conditioning. The older picture was taken in 1938.
