Hey good morning! How are ya, happy Sunday. Are you a Knicks fan? Good for you, I hope you’re having a great day. I was a huge Knicks fan for no reason whatsoever back in the early 90s. They were a strong team then, John Starks was my fav, but the Bulls were a stronger team and kept them down. Anyway, I digress, cos this is Philly not New York but I sure do love it when a city wins.
I wanna talk to you about our HONEY CORN donut which may be my favorite donut. I say that all the time, I know, but yo I MEAN it. It’s a super fluffy corn cake donut. I infuse the milk with roasted corn, and then that corn gets mixed into the dough with the milk. I used to add a little orange zest, but that got expensive so we took it out. It’s still a great donut tho. And the honey corn glaze? With the granulated honey?? Phew. The whole thing is gluten, soy, nut, and peanut free!
But Carol, you say (HaHa if you know me), why they always look so wonky? Well, a number of reasons- 1) everything is made by hand, so no two ever look the same. 2) we use our twice rolled dough, because there’s no gluten to overwork really. And lastly because I probably need to adjust the levener a bit. But I’m not gonna. Cos the moment you bite into it that fluffy yummy goodness, looks don’t mean a thang. 💗
