There are no words to truly express how heavy our hearts are as we write this.
After giving it everything we had, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the doors of The Varsity Sports Bar & Grill.
This wasn’t a decision made overnight, and it certainly wasn’t made because we wanted to. We fought for this place with everything we had. Unfortunately, the challenges that many small businesses have faced over the past few years, combined with today’s economy and rising costs, have made it impossible for us to continue.
What hurts the most isn’t closing a business—it’s saying goodbye to a place that became home.
To our incredible employees… thank you. You showed up every day, worked long hours, laughed with us, cried with us, and became family. None of this would have been possible without you.
To every musician, karaoke host, DJ, entertainer, vendor, and community member who chose to spend time with us… thank you for filling our building with music, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
And to our customers…
You were never “just customers.” You became friends. Many of you celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, victories, and milestones with us. Some of you came every week, knew our staff by name, and made The Varsity part of your lives. Those are memories we will treasure forever.
If you’ve ever shared a meal with us, watched a football game, sang karaoke, danced to a live band, celebrated with family, or simply stopped in for a drink and good conversation… thank you. You gave this place life.
Although this chapter is ending, the friendships and memories we’ve made will stay with us forever.
We ask that you continue supporting local small businesses whenever you can. Behind every family-owned business are people pouring their hearts, time, and savings into keeping their dreams alive. Your support truly matters.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, encouraging us, and making The Varsity what it was.
We leave with gratitude, countless memories, and hearts full of appreciation.
