Intro || the man behind the coffee bar: Chadwick Fairbanks

Chadwick grew up on the “Sunrise Side” of Michigan in Tawas City. His mother, Marianne, started a coffee and sandwich shop in 2004 called, A Different Blend. He spent many summers and holidays working behind the bar with his mom and sisters.

In 2007, Chadwick attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona where he graduated with a Masters of Recording Degree. He interned at a commercial recording studio in Chicago before starting his own business, making radio and tv ads for local businesses.

In 2009 he moved to Dallas, Texas to start a coffee shop called, Lighthouse Coffee Bar with his sister, Melissa, and worked at a music venue as the production manager/head sound engineer. While in Texas Chadwick volunteered with a coffee roaster called, Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters.

In 2012 he moved to Nashville Tennessee, where he got a job as a production manager and head sound engineer for a major music venue downtown. After working in live sound for several years, Chadwick decided to take a break and get back into the coffee world. He got a job at his favorite coffee shop in town called Crema Coffee Roasters . Chadwick worked his way up to shift manager.

Then in 2019, at the very beginning of Covid,
Chadwick moved back to Michigan getting a job on Mackinac Island to become General Manager .mi . There, he met and married Carolyn May. Together they operate Lucky Bean and continue to bring their love for coffee and audio-inspiration by opening
