Update: This post was not to point fingers, place blame, or start s**t. This post was to inform our customers that we would be closed and that I would be spending that time cleaning up my community and to invite anyone willing to come on down and lend a hand. What we got was a bunch of folks waxing poetic and using this as a platform to disparage. Now it’s my turn 2 I REPEAT ONLY TWO people came down here and grabbed a bag!!!!!!! Part of the problem and I mean a Big part of the problem are the optics of our town and a lot of that comes from a Media willing only to report on the negativity that happens here but are rarely anywhere to be found when there is positivity happening. Adding to those optics are the armchair analysts, legislators, and keyboard warriors who get off on tearing down rather than even trying to build up. Wanna make a change and not just talk?…..grab a bag, run for office, show up to a council meeting or a planning commission meeting, talk to one of our homeless the city pretends don’t exist instead of telling them to get a job, plant a tree, plan an event, reward a graduate or an honor roll student, adopt a dog!!! Nothing is gained by making yourself superior by tearing down our community on the internet. I may not have lived here my whole life (possibly this is why I’m not as jaded as some) but I’m not blind to the corruption, crime, and institutionalized issues but…….i live my community, I love my home, and I love the people who live in it. We chose to build and run our businesses here, we chose to raise our children because of the community, history and potential of a town I’d never been to originally but immediately fell in love with upon arrival. I may have been a “come here” but now I’m a “stay here”, and with that there’s a responsibility to be a part of a solution not the problem.
Po’ Boys are canceled today. Instead I’ll be walking around with a trash bag cleaning whatever s**t show happened down here last night after hours. Feel free to join me. I e got plenty of bags and gloves.
