In 1872, the Broadgauge was built as central Illinois' original "mega store", containing under one roof; Hardware, Grocery, and Dry Goods stores. Today, we are restoring the Broadgauge to its original architectural glory and redeveloping it into a Restaurant, Bar, Coffee Shop, and Event Center. Architecture and Design:
The building, built in 1872 and remodeled in 1915, speaks for itself. It is f
illed with intricate wood work like the mezzanine running the length of the building and the newly re-exposed double staircase leading up to a grand ballroom with 15 foot high tin ceilings. These architectural assets will all be highlighted with sophisticated but comfortable design features. Food and Beverage:
The menu is currently under development and an executive chef is being recruited, so there is a lot yet to be decided. However, the cuisine at the Broadgauge will be a twist on American classics, unique to Petersburg, and delicious. Community:
Broadgauge is located at the heart of Petersburg's town square. We are creating unique spaces for the Petersburg community and surrounding community to come together. There will be a beautiful restaurant and bar for people to dine, drink, and commune. There will also be a coffee shop for those early mornings and late nights. In addition to these public spaces, there will be numerous unique spaces available for use, like the Ballroom, Backroom Bar, Boardroom, and a few other lounges. These rooms will be used for all kinds of events including; Wedding receptions, private dinners, anniversary parties, concerts, corporate retreats, community organization meetings, and many other uses.
